大きな建築を次々生み出したサーリネンも、住宅は、これを含めて２つしか作らなかったらしい。ウーン・・外観を見ると四角でおとなしい感じ。
しかし、サーリネンの面目躍如・・本来、梁があるとことが、スリットとなり、そのスリットがトップライトとなり、光が、壁を明るく照らし出している。壁に反射した光が、部屋を広く感じさせる。
もうひとつ、仕掛けがある。これは、ビデオでは理解しにくいが、平面図を見ると、一目瞭然である。長方形の屋根の下、個室群は四隅に配置され、意図的に変形させた中央の十字形のスペースが、居間空間となっている。まさに、家族の集まる居間は、街路そのもののようなデザインである。まさに、家族の理想の姿を、建築の形にした、そんな印象を与える。
